o’malley’s march
Martin O’Malley is really shaking things up in his first few months as governor of Maryland. It makes me proud to know that I helped put him in this leadership role.
Recently, he has urged Maryland lawmakers to repeal the death penalty.
Kudos to O’Malley and his stance. He’s doing some great things so far, and I’m excited to see what he’ll continue to do.
hardball
I love Chris Matthews… moreso on his personal show on Sunday mornings in the D.C. area than Hardball, but, what do you do? I also love Darrell Hammond’s version of Matthews…
As I said, I think Matthews is great, and I think he’s a great political pundit. However, there are times when I believe he isn’t as correct as he thinks he is… Take for example his recent quotation on Hardball:
“My morale goes down when our mind is so warped about this stuff about Britney Spears that people think that Bill Clinton was a better than FDR” –Chris Matthews (”Hardball”).
You see, there is a chance that Bill Clinton could manage to be as great as FDR. Take into account different situations and incredibly drastic changes to the country and among generations, and it could be feasible.
Come on Chris, think of it as a history major would…
metro-buggin’
Since I metro almost everyday, there are a few familiar voices that I hear at times, as certain drivers have very distinct voices.
Today I had a doctor’s appointment (and stayed home since I wasn’t feeling well), and got onto the metro, realizing I had been on this operator’s train before. He had a very theatrical voice, soothing, distinct, and eloquent. It still made me giggle a bit because it was almost like he was trying too hard.
I stopped off at Farragut North and proceeded to see my doctor. In my less-than-an-hour visit, I headed back to head home. Strangely enough, when I got on the metro, it was the SAME operator. Same voice, same theatre, same eloquence.
Now, to hear the same operator from morning to morning is no shock to me, as I’m always on a schedule. But, to hear the same metro operator in one round-trip? Freaky…
Just how many of this men are there?? And just how long does it take to get from downtown to Shady Grove?
I’m thankful to be on the east side of the red line.
v-day
So, my normal opinion on Valentine’s Day is that it’s a normal day with more hearts than usual. I mean, seriously… if you love someone, go all out all the time, not just one day of the year. It’s so commercialized.
But, because of my dear and unrequited love for you, I want to share two things with you:
1. Happy Valentine’s Day from the Teen Girl Squad (homestarrunner.com)
2. Happy Valentine’s Day from me, courtesy of Hoops & YoYo
Because, face it… this day is always better with laughter.
oh-bama oh-eight
There was excitement in the air at the Young Democrats of America and the Democratic National Committee meetings this weekend. Everyone was thinking blue for 2008.
My favorite moment? Barack Obama’s few moments at the DNC podium, and it is worth checking out… There were TONS of younger Dems (18-40) that were hovering around the Exploratory Committee meeting. I’m hoping the committee sees exactly what many young dems have already seen in Obama… and the fact that young dems helped turn the tide in the ‘06 election, allowing both Congressional houses to be turned back over to the people… the working class, and the party that belongs to the working class: the Democrats.
Barack Obama in ‘08! Here’s hoping he’ll officially throw his hat in on Feburary 10… less than a week away until we’ll know for sure!
