snowday
I’ve been here since May… one of the reasons that I was so excited to move to D.C. was that the city actually had a bit of all four seasons. In Alabama, we often had an extended fall through winter, only to start gaining temps again in early April. The last real snow that Alabama experienced was in 1993, during the biggest blizzard that many of us had ever seen.
In D.C., the temps have gotten cold and then blazed up to 70 degrees in mid-January. Now, it’s about 25 degrees, and it’s snowing! And, better than the last time it flurried here in D.C., it’s actually sticking and accumulating. This is beautiful!
To celebrate my excitement for snow, and an actual winter, I’ve raised the blinds to make it feel like I’m actually being surrounded by snow all around me. Like I said, it’s absolutely heavenly and beautiful outside.
And, I also wouldn’t dare go outside. It’s freezing!
